Lined and Raised English Bridle Belt

A classic lined and raised leather belt, handcrafted in the traditional way from English bridle leather. Fully hand-sewn using the saddle stitch and fitted with either a solid brass or solid stainless steel West End style buckle. Made in Australia.
 
Not a belt that is often seen for sale due to the time and level of craftsmanship  required to make. This belt takes me a full 14 hours to make from start to finish. The Dark Havana bridle leather is lined on the back with Tan coloured bridle leather and there is a bolster between the two layers made from full grain butt leather. The bolster gives the belt a raised profile making the belt feel more substantial in the centre while still looking refined at the edges. It also causes the belt to catch the light  nicely giving a more elegant look than flat belts. The belt is fully hand-sewn all the way around in a colour of your choice. The buckle can be sewn in using a different colour if you wish. The thickness of the belt is ~6mm in the centre and ~4mm at the edges. Please contact me if you would like any modifications (e.g. different buckle style or thread colour)
 
The belt can be made in 2 widths, a heavy 38mm or the more classic 32mm. This is the perfect belt for bridging work and casual wear. Elegant enough for the office but substantial enough to pair with jeans.
 
Sizing:
The best way to determine your belt size is to measure a belt you currently wear. Measure from the end of the buckle to the hole you use most often. If you are unable to do this, you can order a size four inches larger than your current jeans size (e.g., if you wear size 32” jeans, order a 36” belt). Please note that this method is less accurate, and custom-sized items cannot be returned if they do not fit. You may specify your size in either inches or centimeters.
 
Leather:
The leather used is traditional English bridle leather, made by Thomas Ware & Sons in the UK. Bridle leather has a long-standing tradition in saddlery and has historically been used for making bridles and other tack. It is still produced using traditional vegetable tanning in pits, followed by stuffing with oils and waxes. This process creates a highly durable leather with minimal stretch, making it perfect for belts. 
 
The belt is supplied in a drawstring dust bag for protection whilst travelling or when not in use. 
 
Buckles:
The buckles are  West End style and made from either solid stainless steel or solid brass. Please contact me if you would like a different style of buckle, I usually have a few different ones in stock and can source others.
