Lifetime Care Policy
At Gibson Handcraft, every item is made to be used, enjoyed and maintained for many years. As part of this commitment, Gibson Handcraft offers complimentary repair services for the lifetime of eligible items.
What is Covered
The Lifetime Care & Repair Policy covers repairs required as a result of normal use, reasonable wear and tear, or defects in workmanship. Repairs are intended to maintain the function, durability and appearance of your item while preserving its character wherever possible.
Eligibility
-
Only items made entirely by Gibson Handcraft are eligible for complimentary repairs. Restoration or repair work carried out on items made by other makers is not covered under this policy.
-
Complimentary lifetime repairs are available only to the original registered owner of the item, being either the original purchaser or the original gift recipient.
-
The item and owner's details must be registered with Gibson Handcraft within nine (9) months of purchase.
-
This policy is non-transferable. Subsequent owners are welcome to enquire about repair or restoration services, which may be offered on a quoted basis.
Exclusions
This policy does not cover items that:
-
have been intentionally damaged, neglected, abused or misused;
-
have been subjected to abnormal use, accidental damage or damage beyond reasonable wear and tear;
-
have been altered, modified or repaired by anyone other than Gibson Handcraft;
-
have been damaged through exposure to fire, flooding, chemicals, animals or other external causes beyond normal use;
-
have been lost or stolen; or
-
are dust bags or other non-leather accessories supplied with the item.
Where an item is no longer eligible for complimentary repairs, repair or restoration work may still be available at Gibson Handcraft's discretion and will be quoted individually based on the condition of the item, materials required and the extent of handwork involved.
Natural Characteristics of Leather
Leather is a natural material and will develop character through use. Changes such as creasing, stretching, softening, darkening, patina, minor surface scratches and variations in colour are normal characteristics of high-quality leather and are not considered defects or grounds for repair or replacement.
Repair Process
Repairs and restoration will be carried out using materials available at the time the work is undertaken. While every effort will be made to match the original materials, colour and appearance, exact matches cannot always be guaranteed.
The Lifetime Care & Repair Policy is intended to maintain and extend the useful life of your Gibson Handcraft item through skilled repair and restoration. It is not an insurance policy or replacement guarantee and does not cover loss, theft or catastrophic damage.
If an item cannot reasonably be repaired or restored, no replacement item, refund or other compensation will be offered.
Gibson Handcraft reserves the sole right to determine:
-
whether an item is eligible under this policy;
-
whether the damage is consistent with normal use, reasonable wear and tear or a defect in workmanship;
-
whether an item can be practically repaired or restored; and
-
the repair methods and replacement materials used.
Shipping
Customers are responsible for all shipping and delivery costs associated with repairs.
Gibson Handcraft is not responsible for items lost or damaged while in transit to or from the workshop. Customers are encouraged to use a tracked and appropriately insured shipping service.
